A July 1st Update

Hi folks,

Thought I should update you on recent life. I've just finished another 8-week session at Regent. I was taking one course on ancient Church history and another on pneumatology, the study of the Holy Spirit. Both were interesting and challenging. I wrote a research paper for pneumatology that took quite a bit of my time and effort, so that's why I haven't been able to post anything on the website recently. Someday I'd like to share that paper with you, but first I want to add to it and make it less formal and (hopefully) more interesting and user-friendly.

I am really busy every day on school work, just as I would be if I had a full-time job. The only difference is, I don't get a paycheck. Instead, I have to pay for my studies! But now, I get to take a break for a few weeks, thank God!

My daughter Allison and her husband and the boys have been in Bavaria, Germany for the last couple of years. They are taking advantage of the time, seeing as much of Europe as they can. She has invited me to come with them to the United Kingdom for 12 days in July, so I'll be taking a break from school to fly to London on July 16th. I'm excited and looking forward to that. Lynn won't be coming, first because she doesn't like traveling much, and second, because Allison will be giving birth to her third child in October, so Lynn is planning to go and help with that, which will take her away from our home for a long time.

When I return from the UK, I will immediately start my next session of school, taking a course in Biblical Hebrew and another on Pauline theology. I'm really wrestling with my future, and would appreciate your prayers. I'm nearing the end of my degree program, but I don't feel it has been sufficient, so I'm trying to figure out what to do about that. Should I switch to a different seminary, one that I feel teaches more of what I want? Or should I just finish up at Regent, get the diploma, and move to my next ministry assignment, whatever that may be? I'm torn. On the one hand, I need to get back to earning money and using what I've studied. On the other hand, there is so much more I want to study!

Some time back, I asked for prayer regarding whether to do a master's thesis or a "practicum." I have concluded that the thesis is what I need to do. However, if I switch seminaries mid-stream, it will mean a postponement of all of that, and a loss of credit for some of my work at Regent (because the other seminary can only transfer so much credit.) So again, everything is kind of up in the air, and I would appreciate prayer for wisdom.

Anyway, that's what we've been up to these last months. It's super hot and humid here in Homosassa, but we're used to the Florida climate. I swim in our pool every day! Lynn has been looking for jobs but not finding anything. We wonder what this is supposed to mean. Maybe it's because she'll have to go to Germany anyway in a few months, but it sure would've helped us financially if she could've worked. Anyway, God has always taken care of us, so we know there must be a way and a plan. We just don't know what it is yet!

Thanks for praying and staying in touch. May the Lord bless you!

Warren and Lynn
