Spring Into Summer

Hello friends,

My Spring semester has just ended, so as I get a one-week break before the Summer session starts, I think it’s time for another update. As I am nearing completion of my M.Div degree program, I am taking more courses at a time, so the work load has been pretty heavy at times. According to the online site that charts my progress, I am now 86% of the way through, and have kept an all A grade average, with the exception of one B+. Oh well, I never did preach Christian perfectionism!

I so wish I could sit down with you and share some of what I’m learning. It’s so fascinating, and we mostly do not hear any of this stuff in church nowadays. Because of the nature of things, church has to be for a broad range of folks and needs, so unfortunately, we don’t get to go very deep or cover a lot of topics in church that I’m getting to delve into in seminary. But I really wish more Christians could learn these things. I think it would help us live the Christian life and have a greater impact upon the world.

My last courses, on the Protestant Reformation, the Holy Trinity, and my second semester of Hebrew, were really difficult (especially the course on the Trinity), and yet really eye-opening and enlightening. I may try to do a video or podcast review of those two courses soon. Of course, I’m already into a series on God’s Part – My Part, so I have to finish that series first.

You have probably noticed the new look to this website. That’s because a true friend is helping me by revamping it. I hope that through this “vehicle” I can do my small part in adding to the already voluminous material out there to equip believers and deal with issues we all face in our modern society. I know you already have a world of great speakers and teachers to choose from, but God made us all unique, and I hope to add my own perspective, as the Lord enables me.

I’m signed up for three more classes. One will be on worldviews, one on the section of the Hebrew Bible called, “The Writings,” and another church history course, covering what’s called the early modern period, from the Reformation till the early 20th century. I’ve already ordered my books and am looking forward to diving in.

We still don’t know what the Lord might have for us upon completion of the Masters of Divinity program. Our money will run out soon, so I’ll have to get back into a paying position soon. But we are just praying for God to lead us to that place He has for us. That’s all we want, God’s will; nothing more, nothing less, nothing else!

I am thankful to those of you who have asked about us and are praying for us, and for those who have read or listened or watched some of my offerings on the website. We’re also especially thankful to those who have sent offerings. Sorry we’re not a tax-exempt ministry at this point. Hopefully we will get that part organized as we discover more details on God’s next assignment for us. But thank you for giving to help us through this period of study. I know it’s a special privilege God has given me to study, and not everyone gets to do what I’m doing, so I’m thankful for that.

Until next time, may the Lord bless each of you. Please feel free to email or send comments here on the website. We love hearing from you! Lynn sends her love to all as well.

Blessings, Warren and Lynn

  1. The stuff you have been learning sounds fantastic. I am sure someday you will be able to teach us on some of the subjects. Though we don’t know what it is just yet, we are positive that God has a plan for you. Nonetheless, really wish you can be teaching us in person.

Many Christians think Bible is good for the “soul” and knowing God’s love for us is enough. I agree with you that we should learn more and dig deeper into God’s words. I heard a question on the radio asking what scientists will do when Jesus comes again. Do we still need scientists in the new heaven and new earth? Very interesting question, right. I don’t believe that God will quench our inquiring minds. I hope that scientists will still be able to seek, study, and be filled with truth.

By the way, I just noticed that in the banner picture, you and Lynn were wearing UTEP Miner Orange. Go, miners. 🙂
