The Beautiful Garments of Salvation

Ps. 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. NKJV

Is. 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (NIV)

This morning during praise and worship at the church we’ve been attending, the verse above came to my mind and spirit. With it came a flood of thoughts that really blessed me, so I’d like to try and share them with you.

The Worship of Faith

This week was full. I had to type papers for both my classes, one on the Reformation, the other on the Trinity. Plus I had all my Hebrew studies, which really smoke my brain! But it all blends together in my mind and heart and often God speaks or ministers to me through all of it together, plus church on Sunday. Gotta put some thoughts down to share with anyone who cares to read 'em, or maybe just so I make sure I process and remember myself. It happened in a Mexican prison

Ok, some time back I wrote about some of my worst ministry experiences. Today as I was out for a bike ride, it occurred to me that I’d better also write about some of the best ones, just to balance things out. Let me share with you some great experiences I’ve had over the years. I want to share these things, not to glorify myself, but to thank and glorify God for the privilege of being used by Him, and experiencing His power working through me.

My most negative ministry experiences

I don't really know why, but I've had the impression for some time that I should share with you some very negative experiences from my life of ministry. This might seem long, and you might question why I share it at all! But I want to be obedient to share these things with those of you who read my blog.  I got a feeling it might be related to my recent studies of Pauline Theology, because Paul said he gloried and boasted in his weaknesses. (2 Cor. 11:30)

How our visit to Iona turned into a divine appointment

Back in July, my daughter, a U.S. Army captain, paid my way to come be with her, her husband, and my two grandsons in the UK. It was a wonderful experience, and we saw sights in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. While in Scotland I had what I would call a “divine appointment,” an experience set up by God so His gospel could be shared with people who needed to hear it. I mentioned this experience on Facebook, but never gave details. The reason was because I witnessed to two people and gave them my website, so I didn’t want them going there and reading what I wrote about them. Now that some time is past, and because last week our pastor asked us to share something God had done recently, I thought I’d type it up.
